-
Have you lost interest
or pleasure in activities once you enjoyed (your job, sports,
hobbies, sex, etc.)?
-
Are you experiencing
changes or disturbances in sleeping patterns (insomnia; oversleeping;
early-morning waking)?
-
Do you have changes
(increase or decrease) in appetite and resulting weight change (gain or
loss respectively)?
-
Are you having trouble
making decisions, concentrating on your work or remembering things?
-
Do you often feel down
on yourself, trapped or that everything is your fault?
-
Do you often feel
agitated or irritable?
-
Do you have persistent
physical symptoms that do not respond to medical treatment (e.g.,
headaches, stomachaches, etc.)?
-
Do you ever feel that
life isn't worth living or do you have recurring thoughts of
death/suicide; suicide attempts?
In general, if you experience five or
more of these listed symptoms nearly every day, all day,
for more than two weeks or if the symptoms are severe enough
to interfere with your daily routine, it indicates that there may be a
possibility of clinical depression that requires treatment and
therefore you should see your doctor or a qualified mental
health professional immediately.
However, anyone with suicidal
urges should seek immediate consultation with a qualified
psychiatrist.
